Events Technician

Job Description
GENERAL PURPOSE
Perform a variety of duties to support City sponsored events and park rentals. Provides additional expertise in coordinating and ensuring successful events. Assigned event projects to plan, coordinate, and carry out.
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Provides support and expertise during city sponsored events, park rentals and recreational programs. Receives direction on larger scope projects and is able to complete smaller and medium scale projects to completion.
Assists with city fundraising plans and projects.
Assist with inventory and tracking of all event materials and needs.
Coordinates and participates in the set up, and take down of event and recreation needs. Sees events through from start to finish and supports the department to create successful events.
Assist with ordering and picks up supplies for event and recreation needs.
Assists with and monitors special events to insure that permit stipulations are followed.
Assists in concession stands as needed.
Schedules and coordinates parks, playing fields, playgrounds, pavilions, arenas and explains City policies and procedures.
Supports volunteer committees, i.e. Herriman Arts Council, Healthy Herriman, Community Garden, and other event and recreation committees.
Coordinates the participation of service providers, vendors and event partners.
Conducts facility tours for prospective users when requested.
Assists with the cleaning, organizing, and maintenance of park facilities, play fields, play grounds, arenas, maintenance building, storage buildings, etc.
Performs cleanup and light maintenance of outdoor restroom facilities, concession stands, pavilions, picnic tables, benches, bleachers, ball fields and other facilities when assigned and during events and rentals.
Prepares playing fields and arenas as demand dictates.
Ensures City facility parking lots are clean and free from debris.
Ensures events and facilities are clean and presentable.
Monitors garbage in parks and during events to ensure they are emptied in a timely and clean manner.
Assists and works with all City departments as needed.
Assists with display, repairs and maintenance of interior and exterior holiday decorations within the City streets and facilities.
Perform snow plowing duties in city facilities and trail systems.
Performs all other duties as needed or assigned.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High School Diploma or be working towards diploma or similar degree OR An equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience: 2 years' experience in events support, customer service, or maintenance; with one year directly related to events support.
Preferred: 1 year experience in event planning and coordination.
Certifications/Licenses:
Must be at least 18yrs old
Must possess a valid Utah Driver's License
Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test, background check, physical and driving record check, if applicable.
Required to obtain a Food Service Workers Permit before start date or before handling food concessions.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing in English.
Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Publisher and Excel.
Ability to develop effective working relationships with supervisor, local agencies and the general public.
Ability to work independently and adhere to timeline expectations.
Ability to work flexible hours and extra hours as required including weekends and holidays.
Possess basic understanding of own/other department functions/ dependencies. Demonstrate knowledge and skills in more than one area.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
