Seasonal Water Systems Operators

Job Description
Herriman City is accepting applications for a Seasonal Water Systems Operator for a period of 6 months. We are looking for a hard working individual who likes to work with their hands, learn skills around water system maintenance, and be outside. The hours are usually 9 hours days with every other Friday off but may change depending on project need and City events. Responsibilities
Reads water meters throughout the City using the automated meter reading system. Reports back information as needed.
Under direct supervision, assists in the inspection, installation and repairs water meters of various sizes.
Completes work orders and various other records pertaining to work activities.
Provides basic information to residents as needed. Refers more difficult situations to the supervisor.
Provides information on meter problems and helps coordinate issues with billing.
Under supervision, receives resident delinquency information and turns customer water service on and off.
Assists in security checks of water systems and meters and reports any issues or problems.
Performs basic installation, cleaning, maintenance and repair on City water system.
Monitors water lines looking for excavations, leaks, breaks, or other situations which pose a threat to the water lines, mains, and services.
Observes and participates in work zone safety procedures and follows safety principles when operating vehicles and equipment. Follows applicable OSHA and safety requirements.
Operates, cleans, and maintains tools, vehicles and equipment to assure proper working order.
Communicates and works with other departments to create a team environment. Takes on additional projects and assignments throughout departments and based on city need. Follows verbal and written instructions and communications from supervisor.
Participates in snow removal from City properties.
Available for 24 hour emergency response.
Performs other duties as needed or assigned
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Preferred
Experience in water works, equipment operation, construction, or closely related area.
Certifications/Licenses:
Must be at least 18yrs old.
Requires a valid Utah Driver's License.
Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test, background check, and driving record check
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of the policies, procedures, equipment, and materials required for effective water system related operations, maintenance, and repairs.
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
TOOLS & EQUIPMENT USED
May use motorized vehicles, light and heavy equipment, and hand tools.
Must be able to lift 100lbs.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
