Senior Project Manager

Summary
Sorenson Communication is seeking a full-time, Engineering Senior Project Manager with experience managing hardware and software projects. Our Senior Project Manager will lead the definition, management and successful execution of high-visibility and critical projects. The Senior Project Manager will be highly motivated, great at communications, and drive team results and accountability creating new company value and results.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead multiple, complex product development schedules and budgets with company and third party contractors including hardware and software development, software tools and component vendors, and subject matter expert consultants.
  • Drive consistent deliveries by several cross-functional project teams, monitoring key deliverables, risks, milestones, project dependencies, and available resources pertaining to each project.
  • Execute, track, and monitor progress to plan and distribute the appropriate project information to all relevant project team members and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with Product Management, Marketing, Sales, Support, and other key stakeholders to identify and assure fidelity to project priorities and key requirements.
  • Lead cross-functional planning for engineering teams consisting of software engineers, enterprise systems, hardware engineers, quality assurance engineers, and technical writers.
  • Ensure accountability across teams for action on project risks and deliverables. Define and execute creative solutions to resolve problems & risks.
  • Define and execute creative solutions to project and program problems identified by teams
  • Assure adherence to company product development system and tools, resulting in quality products delivered on-time, and identifying refinements to further improve company practices.
  • Identify, prioritize, capture, analyze, and report on key project metrics, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Coordinate product releases across Engineering, Marketing and IT teams with little assistance.
  • Mentor and coach team members in use of department system tools and methods.
  • Identify potential improvements for development processes and practices.

  • Excellent meeting planning, preparation, and leadership/facilitation skills.
  • Quick study, able swiftly to pick up new terminology, tools, methods, and working culture cues
  • Demonstrated ability to persuade and influence others, and communicate with all levels of the organization from CEO to individual contributor

Experience/Education/Certifications

  • 5+ years of project management experience in Engineering or Development projects.
  • Bachelor degree in relevant field of equivalent career experience.
  • Experience managing overseas suppliers, particularly in Asia.
  • Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential.
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum methodology.

  • Physical Demands
    • Must be able to sit for long periods of time in an office environment
    • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, tools, and to handle other computer components
  • Regular and predictable attendance required.
  • Positive attitude, team player, good interpersonal communication skills and able to work across company departments.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
