Mechanic Technician

Performs a variety of entry-level skilled duties related to diagnosing, repair and maintenance of City vehicles and equipment.
Works under the general supervision of the Fleet Manager or the Operations Director.
Drive a Company vehicle to deliver and pick up parts and equipment at sites; load and unload the vehicle. Incorporates preventative maintenance programs on all vehicles and equipment to ensure safe operation.
Maintains accurate inventory records.
Maintains a safe workshop.
Works in accordance with OSHA rules and regulations and have a keen knowledge and understanding of safety requirements.
With oversight, repairs and replaces defective parts in equipment and vehicles.
Repairs electrical and hydraulic systems in equipment and vehicles.
Winterizes, maintains and repairs equipment and vehicles.
May be required to perform oil changes and possibly tire and balancing maintenance.
Responds to emergency calls on a 24-hour basis.
May be required to be a stand-by for an on-call rotation for the Operations division and snowplow drivers.
Maintains and repairs small engines of mower fleet, gas trimmers, compactors, gas fleet, light to medium duty trucks, and heavy equipment, spinners, salters, skid steers, backhoes, etc.
Responsible for care of mechanic tools and toolbox.
Knowledge and experience in welding and fabrication and perform such functions.
Performs other duties as assigned or required.
High school diploma or equivalent.
An equivalent combination of education and experience.
None required.
One year experience in related duties (small machinery equipment repair and maintenance).
Must be at least 18yrs old.
Requires a valid Utah Driver's License.
Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test, background check, physical and driving record check.
Must possess a CDL License within 120 days of hire date.
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing in English.
Knowledge of tools, equipment, and vehicles, including their uses, repair and maintenance, and methods and technique of engine maintenance and repair.
Knowledge of operational hazards and standard safety practices, maintenance of equipment and vehicles.
Knowledge of welding and fabrication.
Understanding of hazards of related safety precautions associated with equipment and vehicle diagnoses, maintenance and repair.
Ability to operate heavy equipment of various kinds under varying conditions; perform heavy physical labor; effectively perform various semi-skilled and skilled functions related to vehicle and equipment diagnoses, maintenance and repair.
Ability to develop effective working relationships with supervisor, subordinates, local agencies, and the general public.
Skilled in the art of diplomacy and cooperative problem-solving.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to interpret miscellaneous drawings and schematics.
Tasks require a variety of physical activities, generally involving muscular strain, such as walking, standing, stooping, sitting, reaching, and lifting up to 100 lbs. from the ground to bench or onto equipment, etc. for an extended amount of time.
Talking, hearing, and seeing essential to the performance of the job.
Daily exposure to weather extremes and seasonal conditions exist.
Common hazardous conditions such as confined space trenching, traffic hazards, chemicals, fuels, and power tools exist. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
Common eye, hand, finger dexterity exist.
Mental application utilizes the memory for details, verbal instructions, discriminating thinking.
Frequent local travel required in the normal course of job performance.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
